30 Days of Thanks: Day 17

Matthew 6:25-27

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more than food, and the body more then clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"

Thank God for your (true) identity.

Lord, I struggle with this one.  Sometimes I feel like I need a constant reminder of what my true identity really is.  The messages of the world barrage me--not good enough, not thin enough, not skilled enough--just not enough.  But You say that my value doesn't come through what the world says I am.  That my value has nothing to do with skill, or appearance or anything I do.  It has everything to do with who You say that I am and that You created me to be in relationship with You.  You say that I am loved, I am Your beloved, I am never trying to measure up because Your grace covers up my imperfections.  You formed me in my mother's womb and knew me before I took my first breath.  You say I am yours and that makes me enough.
