February School

February sometimes feels like the Wednesday of the school year.  The weekend is just around the corner, but you've still got some distance to go until you get there.  The extremely warm temperatures and sunny skies have helped me get through the month with a renewed strength.

Michael and I took the opportunity to sit outside basking in the sunshine for our read-alouds last week.  He played with wikki-sticks while I read.

On Thursday, we had an Americanized version of a British tea while we discussed our literature.  Scones, English muffins and tea sandwiches.

Michael has been working hard for the second half of 2nd grade.  We are looking to finish strong this year, instead of sizzling out.  We've added Easy Peasy Year 4 into our daily work, moving along at a quicker pace to finish by the end of the school year.  He's enjoying the focus on inventors and chemistry/physics.   It's a perfect fit for the "hump day" called February.

Okay, this is an aside.  I spent 5 bucks on this soap just so I could smell it.  It smells just like honeysuckle.  It's intoxicating!

Daniel has gotten back into origami after watching The Origami Revolution documentary on PBS.  I think he's currently working on an origami Slinky.

We've been switching things up in French a bit.  The kids are assigned their choice of two cultural activities.  Art, music, recipes, interactive readings.   It's been a nice addition to our use of Rosetta Stone and Duolingo.
