30 Days of Thanks 2013- Day 5

This year our kids and I talked at the beginning of the month about Halloween.  Usually every year,  our kids dress up in innocent, fun (usually homemade) costumes and we hit a trunk or treat or Boo at the Zoo.  We also carve a pumpkin.  When I started thinking about the month of October, I started feeling overwhelmed.  I asked the kids if they minded if we didn't carve a pumpkin this year.  Well, the conversation progressed until they came to the conclusion, they'd rather skip dressing up and trunk or treats for a family time on the Saturday after Halloween.  Some friends did invite us over on the holiday itself for dinner and movie, so that was a added treat for the kids.

You're probably starting to wonder what this has to do with my 30 Days of Thanks...

I'm thankful for traditions---old and new that we share together as a family.

That Daddy always carves the pumpkins and skips all the things he needs to get accomplished to spend time with us...

For this kid that offers to help even when it means trying something new....

For this goofy girl, who gets right into the thick of our traditions and never complains about getting her hands dirty with all the numerous tasks...

For this crazy little dancer, that brightens up any party with his excitement....

I'm thankful that we work and play together as a family, as a team!

Our thankful tree that will be filled with leaves as this season progresses.  It goes from barren branches  to overflowing with our thanks and gratitude to the ONE that has given us every good gift.
