Garden Update

We had our sabbath and church service on Saturday this week to take advantage of the weather.  (The flexibility of having a small fellowship that meets in your home.)   We had such a wonderful service and a relaxing afternoon.  We played games, pulled out a new puzzle and had pizza.  Pizza has always been a sabbath evening tradition, but we've gotten away from that lately. It's the most restful Sabbath I've had in a long time!

We really needed two full days to get our gardens prepped for the spring.  So, Sunday and Monday we did just that.  We are trying out the Back to Eden method of gardening (Sustainable Organic Gardening Method) this year.  You can check out their method by visiting their website:  Back to Eden

Prepping our long and square garden beds...leaves decaying from the fall...covered with a layer of newspaper (4 sheets newsprint deep-no slick stuff) or cardboard.  Then topped with compost/topsoil mixture 3-4 inches deep.  Finally, a layer of wood chips.

The completed gardens...all 3 of them!

We have some hardworking kids...they hung with us until the end.  We all worked together as a family to finish a monumental task!  I hurt from my fingertips to my toes!  But it's done and we are excited to try the Back to Eden way of gardening this year!
