I turned 37 yesterday...last year I didn't sweat turning 36 for a minute. For some reason 37 just feels old, but I'll get over it. I had a great day, in spite of the number. Luckily there weren't 37 candles in the house, so according to the cake...I turned 5. That sounds pretty good to me.
1 box yellow cake
1 can of mandarin oranges diced, undrained
4 eggs
1/2 cup oil
Mix well. Pour into 3 greased and floured round cake pans or do like I did a 13x9 inch pan.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Frosting:
1 small box instant vanilla pudding (4 serving box)
1 (13 oz.) cool whip (That's the big one, I accidentally got the small one and we only iced half the cake)
1 (8 oz.) can crushed pineapples undrained
Mix pudding mix and pineapples together, then fold in cool whip. Frost cake.
I found this on Southern Plate and couldn't wait to try it. Very moist and we all enjoyed it very much!
I made the cake last night and JP frosted it today. He always so thoughtful on my birthday. This year he totally surprised me...a tea mug, a bamboo cutting board, GODIVA chocolate and drum roll please...a Blog book. He had the first 2 years of my blog put into print. I was truly surprised and have had fun looking back at those beginning posts. I can't wait for Volume 2...he'll have to save up.
The kids made me homemade soap and cards...Tera even spent her own money to buy me a Snickers bar. Godiva is a treat once in a couple of years, while Snickers is my favorite "common" chocolate.
Surrounded by my most favorite little people and the guy behind the camera...life doesn't get any better.
