Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

I can never find a card that sums up what I really want to say to my mom on Mother's Day--either they are way too superficial or too sappy, without saying anything. So, I'll come up with my own card that says exactly what I appreciate about my mom. Here are some things I find awesome about her.

Ready to Sacrifice- My mom has always sacrificed so much for us. When things were rough growing up, I remember little treats she would go out of her way to make us. Simple things like no baked cookies and rice krispy treats. Ordinary things really, but when life is crazy, it's those ordinary things that keep you normal as a kid. I remember countless times her giving up things just so that we could have what we needed. She sacrificed her comfort and pleasure just for us.

Ready to Forgive- My mom has had a pretty hard life when it comes to relationships. Growing up she had few people that treated her with respect as a person. Then into adulthood, she dealt with those same people and others mistreating her again and again. What did she do? She respected those who gave her no respect in return. She returned good for evil.

Ready to Laugh- When we were growing up, my brother, Terry was our family clown. He could always make my mom laugh. She is still like that today. Even when times are hard and difficult, she is ready to laugh at whatever strikes her as funny. I love making my mom laugh. It's one of the best sounds in the world. It reminds me of all the happy times, we have had together.

Ready to Give- My mom is so giving. She would literally give the shirt off her back, especially to her kids. Every time she visits or we go home, she loads us up with groceries and whatever else she can think of that we might need. She gives of her time taking care of her family and friends, whether it's running errands, buying medicine, picking up trash, babysitting...you name it, she'll do it.

Now we have had our moments of disagreement, but they have never lasted very long. You see, I don't think I could go without talking to my mom or knowing she was mad at me. It would drive me crazy. She is one of the few people, I can share anything with without fear of judgment. She is the only person, except my husband, who can hear the tone of my voice and know how my day has been going. She is not perfect, but she's my Mom and I wouldn't pick anyone else.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

I love you, very much!
