Unit Week Day 1 and 2

This week we are studying The Christmas Carol. The book has 5 chapters, so I'm reading one aloud each day. We are discussing each chapter using this discussion guide.
This blog had some ideas on The Christmas Carol. We read a bio of Charles Dickens life and watched a short flash interactive. The kids did the drawings below as their depictions of Marley's chain. Today we did a timeline of Charles Dickens life for our timeline books. We've also been listening to excerpts from the Focus on the Family Radio Theatre's version The Christmas Carol.

In addition to The Christmas Carol, we've been doing art projects each day. I wish I could say I was the model of patience during those sessions, but I wouldn't want to lie. Yesterday, we did Poinsettia Art from Deep Space Sparkle and Stained Glass Poinsettia Ornaments (which actually were finished today due to drying times) from The Crafty Crow. I'm so glad for great blogs with in depth instructions for art inept people like me.

We've also been doing "fun math" this week. Yesterday we did Number Potions, Calculator Crazies, Christmas Word Problems and other brain teaser type math. Today we did graphing coordinates to make pictures.

Right now the kids are doing these paper drop ornaments from Family Fun from our Advent activities. This is one craft they are on their own. I've met my quota today, already. (they are doing a great job, such an easy craft, and they look great too.)
