We had a great tour of our local fire station. We heard sirens, worked on Rescue Randy, saw the ins and outs of a fireman's life and got some new pot holders. We were also put to shame when asked about fire drills. That is an area we have been wanting to work on for a while but just never get around to it. This trip spurred my husband to make a list at lunch getting us on track in this area. We are planning on starting a fire drill on a regular basis---changing the location of the "fire" so the kids will have to practice all possible scenarios. We are also updating how many smoke detectors we have in the house. We learned a lot and are thankful for the dedicated men and women of our local fire department!
